So far,  I have discussed about making simple explicit comparisons using 過 [gwo3] and elliptical comparisons using 啲 [di1], 仲 [zung6] and 更加 [gang3-gaa1]. This blog will explain how to make complex comparisons using structures like 有……咁 [jau5…gam3], 冇……咁 [mou5…gam3] and ……比較…… […bei2-gaau3…]. 




有……咁 [jau5…gam3]


This structure is used to compare two items that have a quality to the same degree. It’s equivalent to the English “as… as…” structure, as in “the light is as bright as the sun.” Let’s break down the two components and look at what they mean on their own:
